@Joker 4-1, @Steve Jenkins, and anyone else who is or plans to be posting in Gellen's Heights, I found two really detailed descriptions of the city on our old site. It says I wrote these, but I don't remember doing so! In either case, feel free to use them if you like!

The city of Gellen's Heights is immense, stretching for well over 30 square miles. The capital city of Sheratan, Gellen's Heights is the cultural and economic focal point of the planet. Theaters, libraries, museums, government offices and commercial structures dot the landscape, while hovercars whisk down tree-lined streets and spacecraft touch down at the Gellen's Heights spaceport. The atmosphere here is very modern, while at the same time incorporating elements of Victorian-era architecture from the early part of Terra's 20th century, and the effect creates a charming, yet sophisticated look.

Sidewalk cafes mingle with holoarcades, night clubs, car dealerships, military outfitters, and interactive movie theaters in the city's retail district, while in the more somber government sector, the sound of the wind blowing is only occasionally interrupted by the chirp of birdsong echoing from within the Romanesque approaches to the many government offices which dominate the landscape.

The city itself has been built with the intention of keeping the land's natural beauty preserved, and it is not at all uncommon to find waterfalls cascading down alongside busy roadways in the heart of downtown. There is no better place to be on Sheratan than in Gellen's Heights, and the volume of people present here at all hours seems to support this.

Like all spaceports throughout the Inner Sphere, the one nestled on the outskirts of Gellen's Heights seems to have a perpetual air of industry. At all times, dock workers can be seen busying themselves with DropShip component transfers and installations, fuel transfers, or merely luggage ferrying. Around the sides of each DropShip pad stand mighty warehouses containing various goods ready to be shipped out from Sheratan or those which have recently been transferred off one of the many arriving DropShips. Slightly apart from the rest of the spaceport stands the customs office.

The Customs and Excise office is a three story building built in the same industrial style of the rest of the spaceport. Although they cannot be seen through the tinted windows, Customs agents are busily running checks on incoming DropShips' passenger lists. The office is nearly emptied after each DropShip arrival; Customs agents scurry about newly landed ships checking passenger identities and cargo manifests.

Also, Historically I found a lot of info that could be pertinant to us on Sheratan. This into was found on Sarna, net:

Fourth Succession War

Following negotiations between Colonel Pavel Ridzik, chief military advisor to Chancellor Maximilian Liao, and AFFS Lieutenant General Ardan Sortek, conducted in February 3029 Ridzik created a new nation, the Tikonov Free Republic. The Republic was created by incorporating those worlds of the Tikonov Commonality that hadn't already been conquered during the first half of the Fourth Succession War. Ridzik returned to Elgin, the new capital of the Tikonov Free Republic, on the 3rd of March 3029 and swiftly began implementing a new government consisting of family members, friends and other appointees loyal to himself, purging dissident elements on the various Republic worlds and taking the opportunity to settle old scores. Sheratan was one of the systems incorporated into the Republic.[21]

Operation REVIVAL

After the Fourth Succession War the Capellan secret police established a number of terrorist groups on Sheratan and supplied them with funding, leading to a protracted terrorist campaign across the planet. The primary defensive force on Sheratan was a command known as the Sheratan Knights, a regiment of conventional forces who were ferociously loyal to the Federated Commonwealth. Heavily involved in attempting to stop the outbreaks of terrorism, the Knights ended up receiving extensive practical experience of dealing with guerrilla warfare.[2]

This is good stuff! I definitely think that it lends itself well to the possibility of some high drama (and perhaps conflicts in our own back yard!) once we return from Nirasaki. I love it!
