An Elemental in a prestigious post, Klaus Harper is an anomaly among the Clans. His rise to command of the Clan's most prestigious unit, and then to his current post, testifies to his martial and mental abilities, and has earned him considerable respect. He wields immense power in the Clan Council, and many factions within the Clan court his support. During his five-year tenure as Loremaster, however, Harper has shown considerable restraint. He chooses to do what is best for the Clan rather than for himself or House Harper, earning him respect and enmity in equal measure.

Harper's refusal to take the position of saKhan following the death of Joseph Crow added to his mystique, but his recent clashes with saKhan Cooper have given Harper cause to regret his decision. The exact reasons for Harper's refusal are unknown, but he has hinted that his skills are best suited to maintaining balance in the Raven Council rather than in the political arena of the Clan Grand Council.
