Night City of 2077 is a near future corporate dystopia with vast inequality between the rich and poor, and widespread cyberaugmentation among all social classes. Cyberware can be anything from color-changing synthetic hair, to plugs for connecting computers directly to your brain, to strength-enhanced prosthetic limbs with embedded weapons.

Night City comes from the Cyberpunk RPG series, including Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk RED, Cyberpunk 2020 and the anime Edgerunners. Players are welcome to add their own ideas to the setting - new locations, technology, corporations, and more.

Night City Attractions

Travelers arrive in Night City by accompanying nomad caravans across what remains of the interstate highway system, riding a maglev train, or getting a ride on a private or corporate AV (aerial vehicle). Between rising fuel prices and the lawless expanse between cities, passenger jets and uneventful road trips are a thing of the past.

In Night City you’ll find dining establishments for any budget, from high-end restaurants serving real farm-raised steak and vegetables, to fast food shops frying up deliciously disguised scop. On the go? Just grab some kibble or Pop-Turds from the nearest vending machine.

Night City’s local net offers top-notch entertainment. Relax to true-to-life television programs like Tragedy Tales and Homewrecker Hoedown from the comfort of your 8-by-8 cube apartment. Take comfort that even though you can’t safely use the communal restroom til the gangsters fall asleep, at least you’re not getting berated by your ex girlfriend Methany on live television.

If you’d prefer something more vivid, Night City offers several braindance cafes where you can jack in for a full sensory experience. Go on a romantic date with your favorite pop star, wrestle crocodiles, or win the big game - braindance has it all. If you have the eddies (euro-dollars), you can even buy your own rig and live others’ experiences from the comfort of your home. Of course, braindances featuring real-life death and violence are illegal even here.

No one can blame you for struggling to hold down a job in 2077 - these are tough times everyone - but sympathy won’t pay your rent. Night City is a great place to find employment, and it’s not just data entry and flipping burgers, either - corps like Biotechnica, Millitech and Combat Cab have entry-level roles available for scientists, techies, mercenaries, drivers and more. If steady work isn’t your style, check the corporate contracting boards or ask your local fixer for some gig work. Opportunity abounds, especially if your ethics are flexible.

If that gig goes poorly, head to Thrifty Care to get patched up for no money down, no credit check required. (Interest rates apply.) If you don’t receive top-notch healthcare from the over-worked and under-resourced staff, just head across the street to the law firm of Jenkins, Jenkins & Jenkins to file your malpractice suit. After all, not everyone can afford a Trauma Team plan.
