Create a Thor that you would pilot. What weapons would you put on it? Engine upgrades? Create something unique, its got the hardpoints to do almost anything.
Hmm...when Gen and I ran on MW4: Online, he had a terrifyingly brutal variant (I wish I still had the TRO for it - but it was lost in a computer crash) that was essentially a load of LB-X autocannons and not a whole lot else. The beast could kill in two or three well-placed shots - it was legendary.
Well besides the piece of shit Thor that WizKids imposed in MechAssault, Thor is meant to be a well-armed medium-heavy 'mech. It can be found with jump jets, perhaps, even stealth. It is one of the most veristile 'mech, used for recon backup or heavy fighting. Its speed is the quickest to a heavy 'mech. So...
I had a kick ass Thor in MW4:BK.
Refractive armor (Lasers)
Jump Jets
LBXAC20x1
Medium Pulse Laserx1
Clan Machine Gunx1
LGuass Rifle x1
Heat Sinkx5
The best part about the Thor, in my opinion, is the 2 slot omni-port. Missles were never really buff with any of my Thor loadouts, because I mostly used it in the city fights. The pulse laser and clan machine gun made for great constant fire, and I would trade off my autocannon and guass fire. I can tell you that I made ALOT of people fall with those cannons. My main job, in most matches, was to keep the enemies down, and keep them under rain (laser and mg). However, my Thanatos was my best overall 'mech, and it had a better chance to survive against an Atlas.

For dueling and tournament style combat, I have a mean variant based around 2 Clan Ultra AC 2s and 1 Clan Ultra AC 5 with medium lasers and a modest Clan LRM 15 to support. With the differing firing rates on the autocannons, I can keep somone's crosshairs bouncing the entire time unless they spent the insane tonnage to equip an advanced gyro. It can't fly and it takes a cut in speed but that doesn't matter, It doesn't have to when you can't hit it.
For mission based play I like the dual Ultra AC5's with LRMs and er medium lasers backing. Full spread of ECM fixxins and jumpjets for more manuverability. Runs nice and cool and can take on anything shy of an assault lance.
Been experamenting with what Victor Stiener-Davion encountered with "thunder and lightning."
Clan Gauss in one arm and er PPc in the other. Unless I'm mistaken, the recycle times are the same so you can group them together with cool effect. Still debating with myself as to whether or not the gauss rifle is worth the tonnage on such a light mech, it makes up a pretty large percentage of the total weight. Fun to pilot though, I just haven't been totally convinced that its practical in any way.
