Ducking into the Cantina, a wave of nostalgia washed over me as I took in its beaten and well-worn interior. There seemed to be an unusually large contingent of patrons present, many of them still looking as though they hadn't fully recovered from the ordeal of the invasion.

I knew I hadn't.

I made my way into the sweeping administrative offices of the Site 187 complex, and crossed through the reception area into my private office beyond. There, standing in the doorway, was a man dressed in the uniform of the local militia, looking as though he had been waiting for some time.

I passed a stack of pre-interview paperwork to the applicant from the local militia, and directed him to the reception area. I slowly sat, grimacing at the mountains of paperwork which had accumulated on my desk during the previous Operation. While Major Wolf had
As we migrate to the new site, the opportunity presents itself for us to overhaul the ranking system. In an effort to make us more 'canon,' it'd be nice if we had a ranking system that accurately reflected those in use in the BattleTech Universe. I've posted the ranking system we had in place before switching to the 'MechCommander' style system currently in place over on our ProBoards site to give everyone an idea of what it was like. A number of people have inquired about how the ranks work, what they mean, and how promotion comes about. To that end, I've put together a breakdown of the rankings, custom titles, and promotion guidelines to help people figure out how the system works. If you have any questions or comments concerning this article, please feel free to post them here.

As the elements of Anvil Lance moved to support Hammer Lance, I steered my KGC-CS-A King Crab into the urban jungle that was the West End of Gellen's Heights. With an impact that resounded through the crowded city block like a small explosion, twin gauss rounds smashed into Corporal Lourde's Cougar, sending it tumbling to the ground as the 100-ton Behemoth-II assault tank opened fire.

A thunderous clap of autocannon fire tore through the urban sprawl, as twenty baseball-sized buckshot rounds slammed into my King Crab's prominent nose. My BattleMech bucked wildly under the impact, and I yanked hard on its control yoke to pull the torso level before another crippling blow could be delivered.

The writers involved in this have apologized for the darker style of storytelling, and again emphasize that they simply didn't want to allude too much and leave things to someone's imagination. The desire was to make sure that some of the dark, foreboding things came out openly. It just seems like we're at a good point right now, and hearing more about the near-total lack of source material post-3069 scares me. That's why I want to re-poll the community.

As the smoke cleared, I made my way across the piles of bodies, armor, and rubble which littered the vehicle bay, shouldering my assault rifle as I sprinted toward Rhodes, Garland, and Tetsuhara. The trio was working to extracate an infantryman from his downed Battle Armor, a task made much more complex given that the suit's power was offline. I shook my head in frustration.

Rhodes looked at me inquisitively.Smoking entrails and a scene of utter devastation greeted our eyes as the smoke cleared. The LAW had wiped out the DEST commandoes, leaving little more than grease stains and unidentifiable detrius behind. The thick blast door which stood between us and the laboratory remained intact, albeit badly damaged.

Hey, folks -

Having written so much today here behind the scenes and in roleplay format at MWRealms.com (as part of an attempt to reach out to other roleplayers), I am utterly exhausted. As such, I only managed to post from one character's viewpoint over in the Locales today. Apologies for this. I thought it would be great to start a 'Quotable Legionnaires' thread for members to post their favorite Legionnaires quotes. You can post as many, or as few, as you'd like, as may times as you'd like. Let's make this fun!
Here's my first couple of quotes:

He would in short order be receiving unemployment benefits for failing a 'random' drug screening on the job, and I was now the proud owner of an empty autoinjector."
You forgot this one:

"I didn't want to wait for the drop crane to finish cycling and come back to get me, and it took too long to get my humvee strapped to the cargo pallette and unloaded as it was, so I decided to take things into my own hands. I turned the key in my hummer's ignition and jammed the ga sspeadel onto the floor and revved the engine, I released the handbrake and sped toward the drop hole, as I saw it coming I tried to apply my brakes enough to slow down

First question: What's your number one favorite tech item featured throughout the course of the Legionnaires RPG? It could be anything - from the mundane, such as DetPacs, to the extraordinary, such as the Crimson Platform. I'd love to hear everyone's responses!

My favorite: The AutoVendor. smile.gif

Second question: Name your all-time favorite Op.
Didn't one of the Bekker characters die a hilarious death in Operation VI: Bloodhound? I've been trying to find the post (it was written from another participant's perspective, not the character in question), but I haven't had much luck. I remember it involved something about witnessing the death after reviewing the battle recording later, and seeing the foolish decision the character made leading to his untimely demise.
Thanks! That's easily one of the funniest RPG posts I've ever read in any group I've been a part of. Something about the imagery of watching O'Connell getting rammed in the chest by a missile, all in slow-motion...

The weightless haven that had been our JumpShip's parking orbit of Galatea gave way to a hard, shuddering, positive-G environment once again as the mighty vessel throttled away from the planet, pushing forward into the cosmos with a forceful diligence as it plied its way toward the system's jump point. Drones! Saxon was fighting with DRONES!

The concept struck me not only as horrifying, but also as grossly amoral. As some of you may already be aware, the Tidewater Virginia area is dealing with some severe flooding as a result of the Nor'easter that recently hit the region. Because of this, all public safety officials in the area (including myself) are on-call today. I just wanted to let you all know I'm still here, and both Benjamin and the NPCs will be posting more later on tonight.

BTW, is everyone receiving e-mail notifications of new posts & responses properly? I stopped getting them from the site yesterday, and I'm trying to determine if it is an isolated problem or not.
PThanks, guys. I wanted to touch bar with you all and let you know what my status is. As of 2108 hours Eastern time, 25,000 Tidewater area residents (including myself) are without power - including the police department. You may have seen
it on the news. Anyway, what this boils down to is that Hobson will not be posting tonight. Lance Callahan, hang tight, buddy. I have a post handwritten already and am going to transcribe it as soon as the lights come back on ~ it is simply too much to t
Much appreciated, Lance. You're a valued member of this group and I thank you - and everyone else - for their involvement!

Here's my status update as of 1145 EST: Major flooding in many parts of the area. The police department where I work & jail have power again, but my neighborhood is still out. Called Virginia Dominion Power and they advised power should be restored by 1230 PM. Still reaching this site via phone & wishing I still had my SideKick - the BlackBerry
I'm pleased to report that the power is back on and I'm back on the grid! Hobson's post should be up soon.
ADMINISTRATORS: Did any of you receive the test e-mails I sent out earlier?
All right, folks, I've contacted technical support for some intervention on the broken admin settings and the malfunctioning e-mail server and I have the following answers:

1.) The software we are running our message boards on is over 4 years old (the last update was when we did the community fundraising drive and raised enough to purchase what was, at the time, the brand-spanking new Invision 2.1.7 setup) and is no longer supported by GoDaddy.com or Invision.

Yes, Talus - all figures are in USD. If I could even raise $75.00 - $100.00 I'd match it and spring for the forums, because we definitely need it, and with all respect to SMF, which I think is a great project, I've looked it over and it isn't very compatible with the way the Invision databases are scripted. I'd prefer to update and secure what we have here right now as opposed to migrating to a new system and leave this forum still vulnerable. I completely understand if
Talus; Keith - I want you to know I really appreciate it. This is an area where we have an urgent need and your contributions mean a great deal. Thank you for helping to ensure the SAFE future of this site!
No worries, Alex! Believe me, I understand! I don't want or expect you to do anything that's beyond your means. Keep contributing your great stuff that brings our RP's universe to life - it doesn't cost anything, and it makes a richer and more engaging storyline that I for one am honored to be a part of!
Very cool! Much like I imagined your character! What sort of tablet do you use? I have an HP tx2000-series.
I'm pleased and very honored to announce that the new forum fund has received its first donation. The current balance stands at $40.00 USD. Thanks very much to Talus for his contribution!
In the interest of fair comparison, I've set up a test SMF forum at this location. Note that I have been unsuccessful at converting any of our IBF databases or our custom board modifications (such as the rank icons, etc) over to SMF format, although some of you might know some tricks that I don't. I did, actually. At first it seemed to be working fine, but then it hit a table it didn't like and crashed the entire database I was working on.

Hey folks -

I just realized there was a typo in the donation post. The correct e-mail address to donate to on PayPal is crownvic82@cox.net. The address, as originally typed, was missing a letter. Funds sent to that incorrect address will be bounced back by the system. Again, the correct address is c r o w n v i c 8 2 @ c o x . n e t.

Thanks, Keith! And on the subject of PayPal, I'm pleased and very honored to announce that the new forum fund has received its second donation. The current balance stands at $70.00 USD. Thanks very much to a contributor who wishes to remain anonymous for his contribution!

Don't change a thing! I actually whacked Hobson's for the time being as yours was so much funnier. I can absolutely say, without reservation, that the post you just made is one of the most hysterical things I've ever read on this site.

The fluorescent lighting buzzed and flickered erratically, setting an almost-eerie ambiance in the cramped and tattered confines of what loosely could be referred to as our 'mess hall.' In all actuality, the space had been used as a morgue by a previous tenant, and, although much of the machinery had been removed from it by the time the Legionnaires acquired the property, much still remained to serve as a reminder of the room's g

"I see," I replied, cautiously. "Then - what is your area of expertise?"
