Just out of Earth's orbit
Savior rocketed forward, her fusion engines being pushed to the limit. "Thorn, we have three UGG Battlecruisers after us." Alex leaned forward as he studied the readouts. "There is no way we can outrun them!" The voice carried through the cockpit. Alex ran to Garrett. "Listen Garland, I dont care how you do it just get us out of this mess. Make a blind jump if you have to." Garrett glared back with an intensity Alex had rarely seen. "Are you crazy? You know how dangerous blind jumps are!" He accented his point by banking the large cruiser to the left. A large yellow streak flew by. Crack called from the tech chair. "Sir, we have a fourth battlecruiser coming in to block us." Alex rubbed his chin. He was a soldier, not a ship captain. "Punch it." "What!?" Garland retorted. "You know we cant survive firepower like that. Do it Garland." Garrett turned and punched the button to his left. The stars and battlecruiser in the viewpoert distorted. Soon there was a void in space where the ship had just been.

A large man with short brown hair, sharp blue eyes, and a well build body strode down a corridor. A large tatto was visible along two thirds of his right arm. The tattoo dipicted a falcon who's wings closed in around a symbol of a skull with two swords behind it. A smaller, yet equally built man followed the first taller man. This man also had the same tatto as the larger man. After making several tunrs down white-washed halls they reached a door with the words "General Williams" on it. The first man knocked and opened the door. As both men stepped in a grey haired man turned in his black leather chair to face them. "Ah, gentlemen. Please have a seat." He pointed tot he two chairs on the otherside of his mahagony desk. The older man looked to the taller of the two guests. "Alex Thorn. Good to see you." He slowly looked to the smaller man. "You too, Garrett." Both men stayed silent. The general leaned forward, bony yet strong hands gripping the edge of the desk. "I'll cut to the chase. The UGG is getting frustrated with the Leage of Free Worlds. This war has been going on for three years now with no signs of their being a peace treaty. As you gentlemen know the LFW is getting braver and stronger. You also know they have taken multitudes of prisoners, both civilian and military."
Alex cut the man short as he drew a breath. "Sorry sir, but what is your point?" The general smiled, his high cheeks and deep brown eyes coming alive. "Well we have reports that those prisoners are alive. We dont know exactly where, but they are alive." He stopped for a moment and stood. He then slowly strolled to the window ht overlooked the busy streets below. "This is where you two come in." He turned and looked at them over his sharp nose. "The UGG wants both of you to lead a small group of slodiers behind enemy lines and rescue those prisoners." Garrett stared at the ceiling as he grunted. Alex lowered his head and sighed. "With all due respect sir, we are both retired." The older man, rushed with excitement. "Thats exactly why we want you to lead this operation." He walked back to the desk and picked up a piece of paper which he handed to Alex. "This is a list of potential members of the group. you get to chose who you take with you, but the UGG wants you to chose from that list."
Alex looked over the list with a practice eye. Some of the names he recongnized, others he did not. One thing was common with all of the names though. They all had big, bold letters that read 'RETIRED' next to them. Alex slowly looked up. "Sir all of these men are retired." The general nodded in aggrement. "Exactly. We want the LFW to think you are defecting to their side. Being retired helps your arguement." Alex sighed and looked at Garrett who was looking over the list. Garrett nodded silently as Alex spoke. "Alright. We will do it." The general's grin grew wide and his eyes grew bright. "Excellent." He shook their hands as they stood. "Good luck to both of you." Garrett and Alex quickly walked out of the office without saying a word.
