Hi gang.

Just to let you know I'm still alive. Im currently living between my parent's place and my flat. The big stuff (t.v, bed, book case etc) is all there but i have a load of other crap to take over yet. I am also in the process of registering my car onto the German net - which is a real pain in the ass i might add.

After i get that sorted i need to apply for my tv and radio license and then after that I will be arranging to get a phone line and broadband set up in my flat smile.gif

I can see myself getting all sorted somewhere around the 17th and onwards.

Thanks for all understanding and as soon as i am able to i'll be posting (something i can hardly wait to do!)

Cheers, Keith
I hope everything goes well man. What the hell are TV and Radio licenses though... you need a license to own a TV???!!!!

Or to broadcast?

Yeah, what's up with this? Are you having to get licensed to watch TV and listen to the radio, or are you planning on starting your own media outlet? Details, please!
Yes, i know this is a strange concept to you guys. They have tv/radio licenses in germany (as they do in UK). The license is NOT to broadcast. It is for WATCHING. Im not 100% sure of the German side, but in the UK your money goes towards funding channels that dont show adverts. BBC 1 and BBC 2 are the guys that suck all your money away.

In Germany it is similar but it goes mainly towards the programs and movies that they show.

Its very odd concept I know, but if i decide to "skip it", then i will get in big trouble and fined a ridiculas amount of money!

Shocking, isnt it?

Cheers, Keith

Weirdness.
O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?

tongue.gif AMERICA! F*CK YEA! Here again to save the mutha f*ckin day, yea! tongue.gif

Thats a strange concept to me, how will they know if you don't have one?

Also quick question:

Flat = Apartment?

Yes, Flat = Apartment smile.gif

How will they know? Well im sure they dont have secret radar guns that can hunt for TV/Radio signals, but Im sure that if i were to have a party or the landlord came over to have a quick inspection and he/she discovers that I DONT have a tv/radio license then that is how id get caught...

Honestly, i think the whole license thing is a load of horse shit. The UK one is damned expensive. Last time i heard it was over 100 pounds. The German one will be around 20 - 50 euros.

But i need it if i want to be a law abiding citizen happy.gif
Good luck to you with your home!

Its kind interesting to have learned that, I don't even watch TV and I'm intregued.

Halo has Godzilla sized popularity in America so thats saying something!
