I'd like to see a more BattleTech-ish ranking system. Essentially, I'd like to see the whole range, from Private to General (like you have at the end of your post) over the Mech Commander style rankings. That way, even in a Lance Assignment, you have more senior elisted leading and the chain of command remains intact should the be required on the fly.

I like Rhodes system as well. Coupled with the fact that it should follow a canon sourcebook, that would make it even better. It's a little leaner than mine, but that makes it even more viable to use with smaller numbers. NPCs can always fill in the gaps of course, especially the lower rungs of the Legionnaires. This might make it a little more interesting too, as even lower ranked member have the potential for having people under their command. For example, a Tanker [or AeroTech Pilot] can

I secured the hatch behind me as I entered War Room B. This was an emergency meeting called by one of my "Data Recovery Specialists" and so I decided to bring in the whole damn staff to hear what the big deal is. If anything, we needed to compare notes and see what progress we have made. Time was running out and the General's patience was wearing thin. Neither of which was something that had me in a cozy spot.

I was cruising the Wiz Kids MechWarrior site recently and noticed that they are planning a new MechAssault title called Phantom War for the Nintendo DS to be released at the end of this year. Also some students at a design school have gotten permission from Wiz Kids to make a
MechAssault I was garbage. MechAssault II was even worse (despite much-touted promises to the contrary). I have no intention of purchasing the latest release.
