I think it would be great if we could design rank insignia for the unit and add them to our avatars. I know on classic battletech forums they use Star League rank insignia, which is similar to our rank structure. We could use that or design our own. Does anybody have applicable art skills for this? Garland, maybe? Unfortunately, my drawing talent is limited to stick figures.

What do the rest of you think?
I think that would be fantastic. Implementing this should be fairly painless. If there's anyone willing to undertake this, we can make this update immediately.
I would love to do this but unfortunately my photoshop is gone and I dont have a scanner. So I'm usless. But if anybody volutneers for this contact me by PM or MSN (taavitts@hotmail.com) or AIM (ShadowHawkTa) cause I love coming up with ideas like this.
Here's a link that shows the rank insignias of the old Star League Defense Force. Perhaps we could use these insignia but in red and gold since that's the trim color that goes with our gunmetal grey uniforms and paint scheme.
Hmm. Interesting. Like I said above (as Thorn) I can work on something. In fact I have a basic idea for a couple of insignias. I dont know how well they will work. I'm gonna attempt to do them in paint since they are basic shapes. Ill keep yall updated.
Not bad. Pretty snazzy, in fact. It seems that so far, we have two pretty decent ideas on the table - the SLDF insignia are pretty sharp looking as well.
Any new info on the rank system? I think it would be awesome to add insignia to our avatars.
I received a batch of final insignia from Thorn covering ranks up through 11. Because the set is incomplete, I am going to convert the final ranks over from the SLDF insignia set. Once this is completed, I will begin work on implementing this. I don't know how involved it's going to be to actually make the board do this, so it will probably be this coming Friday or Saturday before the new insignia are seen on the profiles.
Don't worry Keith, if it were me, there would be little colored numbers wraped in some odd shape resembling the army or something... I'm glad we're in Alex's hands
You asked for them - and you got them. Custom rank insignia have been coded. Please note that Alex's insignia have not yet been incorporated, as I still have to covert them to the PNG format I am using for the rest of them. Look for these over the next few days. Please note that because of this, those of you with "Lt Colonel" and "Colonel" rank insignia will show a 'broken image' pip until these go in. This also means that some of you will notice your rank insignia change once Alex's are added.
I am sorry there have been no posts from any of my characters in the last 24 hours - my major focus has been on getting the custom insignia coded and working properly by my promised deadline, and so I had to sideline posting while I did this. Because of the dynamic nature of the system I used, and my desire for us to be able to easily expand this system in the future, it was a giant undertaking. I hope you are all pleased with the results.
After a good night's sleep, I'll toss a few more posts into the active campaign.
Great work! Will we still keep the little golden squares beneath the ranking system too?
I thought it would be a nice idea. For every fifty posts a member makes, they are awarded a pip (the first pip is awarded for joining). It's kind of a neat system. What does everyone else think? Keep 'em or lose 'em?
Yeah that sounds like a good idea. The only thing is that the rank of Sergeant looks like an exclamation point!
I see what you mean! Remember, though, that the ranks are going to 'shift' once Alex's insignia go in, so what you see currently is not representative of the final product.

Oh yeah... I assume they stop after awhile.
Currently, pips are coded to 450. At 500, you get a single, large Legionnaires crest.
