I know this question has been raised before, but now that the company has been able to get back on its feet, and establish a better-rounded background in our little corner of the BattleTech universe, I'd like to present the question again : how would everyone feel about a possible merger between the Legionnaires and Crayven Securities, Incorporated? I've compiled what I believe the pros and cons would be concerning a merger of this type:
PROS:
PROS:
- Autonomy:The Legionnaires would retain their autonomy and unit name, even though they would be considered part of Crayven Securities, Incorporated.
- Financial Support: The Legionnaires would have access to the vast financial resources of the Crayven Corporation - it goes without saying, therefore, that the Legionnaires would finally be able to purchase some high-end equipment and upgrades.
- Easy Access to Clan Tech: Marauder IIC, anyone?
- Increased Bidding Power: With the backing of the Corporation, the Legionnaires would be able to bid on better, higher-paying contracts and retain the option to have sole rights to execute contracts for the Corporation itself.
- increased Resources: From technicians to BattleTech, facilities to 'special contacts,' intelligence-gathering and research and design programs, the Legionnaires would have access to the vast assets at the company's disposal.
- A JumpShip: No more charters.
CONS: - Questionable Reputation: Crayven Securities, Incorporated doesn't exactly have an untarnished reputation. Its refusal to disclose the clients it services, as well as its general refusal to ally itself with any political bodies make it the target of great speculation and rumor. Its suspected Clan ties only serve to further cast its reputation in question.
- Sociopath: Charles Maxwell - General, Intelligence Divison - currently oversees the operation of the entire organization. Originally the section chief of Crayven Intelligence, the position of CEO was unwittingly thrust upon him when the Word of Blake attacked Crayven's previous corporate headquarters on Ney Vesta, and the company's senior executives were massacred. His slightly-unstable personality and questionable ethics have often been looked upon as cause for serious concern by many who have had dealings with him; irregardless of this, he does remain an extremely powerful and influential figure.
- Ulterior Motives: While, generally speaking, the overall mission of Crayven Securities, Incorporated is that of pure business, there have been rumors that a much darker, far more sinister machination is at work at the company's highest levels. Whisperings of eugenics programs, mind-control experimentation, and even forays into the exploration of the supernatural abound. While none of the speculation has, to this date, produced any viable evidence to support the claims being made, it is a point to consider.
